Disney's Beauty and the Beast
The Chip Audition
- Mrs Potts is the Prince’s housekeeper who has been changed into a tea pot.
- Her son is a chipped tea cup - obviously he is called Chip.
- In the stage version we see only his face set in the side of a giant cup which is being pushed around on a tea trolley by Mrs Potts, until the final scene when the spell is lifted and the objects become human again.
Chip should be played by a boy, probably aged around 8 to 10, but we will consider suitable girls.
However, it is essential that all candidates are not taller than 120 cm (48 inches) in order to be able to fit into the special ‘trick’ tea trolley. They must be able to sing and to deliver dialogue confidently and clearly, with well-spoken English accents.
Full details of the requirements and auditions for Chip are in the Chip Audition Pack, which is a PDF file downloadable here.
